Hyderabad: Scoot, the low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines (SIA), has announced six Southeast Asian destinations for its upcoming fleet of Embraer E190-E2 aircraft. These include new destinations Koh Samui and Sibu, as well as existing destinations in Malaysia and Thailand such as Hat Yai, Kuantan, Krabi, and Miri.

The first Embraer E190-E2 aircraft is set to be delivered in April 2024, with its inaugural flight to Krabi scheduled for 7 May 2024. Scoot's E190-E2 services are expected to commence in May 2024, following the delivery of the first of nine aircraft from Embraer's manufacturing facility in São José dos Campos, Brazil.

These new aircraft will enable Scoot to offer direct connections to and from Singapore, enhancing the SIA Group’s network reach across Southeast Asia. The increased connectivity will allow Scoot to link customers through the Singapore hub and beyond, leveraging the airline’s extensive network.

The first E2, named Explorer 3.0, will take over Scoot’s existing flights to Krabi and Hat Yai starting 7 May 2024, increasing flight frequencies to both destinations from 7 to 10 times weekly. The second E2, also scheduled for delivery in April 2024, will facilitate operations to four additional cities – Koh Samui, Kuantan, Miri, and Sibu.

Daily flights to Koh Samui will commence from 13 May 2024, with the frequency gradually increasing to twice daily from early June 2024. The addition of the second E2 will also allow Scoot to increase its frequency to Miri and Kuantan from three to four times weekly from 20 May 2024 and 3 June 2024, respectively, as well as launch thrice-weekly flights to Sibu from 5 June 2024.

By June 2024, in addition to destinations served by Scoot’s existing fleet, the airline will operate 103 weekly flights to Malaysia and 92 weekly flights to Thailand.

With the introduction of Koh Samui and Sibu, Scoot's network will expand to 69 destinations, strengthening the airline’s connectivity in the region and reinforcing Singapore’s role as a regional hub.

Bookings for E190-E2 flights will gradually become available via Scoot’s website, mobile app, and other channels, with all-in sale fares for Economy class starting from SGD172 to Koh Samui and SGD72 to Sibu, inclusive of taxes.

Mr. Leslie Thng, Scoot’s Chief Executive Officer, commented, “We are pleased to announce the first six destinations to be served by our new Embraer E190-E2s in Malaysia and Thailand, including two exciting new additions to our network. This marks a new phase of growth for Scoot and the SIA Group, further strengthening our presence and connectivity in the region."

"Our fleet expansion reflects our confidence in the continued growth of air travel in this region. We remain committed to exploring new opportunities and expanding our reach to connect customers to more destinations, offering great value as we move forward."
